Where to find us

A small breakfast house on the road out to Table Rock Lake. We bake the bread, the biscuits and the cinnamon rolls here every morning, and the sales tax is already in the menu price.

The Hungry Hunter Restaurant seen from the parking lot: a blue roof sign carrying a leaping bass and the restaurant name, orange-brown siding, a covered porch with a wooden bench, and a rainbow arcing over the roof.

“Hungry Hunter has tax included in their meals so you know exactly what you are paying.”

Michelle S, Google review, May 2026

The number on the menu is the number you pay. Matthew Smith wrote the same thing in July: “We liked that menu prices included sales tax.”

Off the griddle

What comes out of this kitchen

Made to order, which is why it takes a minute and why it arrives hot. Hand cut, hand breaded, grilled to perfection, and a lot of it.

Two biscuits under country gravy with two fried eggs, shredded cheese and a pile of hash browns.
01

Breakfast, all day

Every hour we're open is a breakfast hour. Eggs how you want them, hash browns, bacon, biscuits and gravy.

A chicken fried steak under white country gravy with hash browns, three eggs and a tall biscuit, on a gingham tablecloth.
02

Chicken fried steak

Locally sourced, hand cut, hand breaded and grilled to order. It comes out bigger than the plate wants it to be.

Two fried eggs beside a wide bed of golden hash browns and a tall split biscuit.
03

Bob's Hashbrowns

Our own, and the thing people come back for. Shredded, pressed onto the griddle and left alone until the edges go.

A single pancake so wide it hangs over every edge of the plate, beside a plate of bacon and eggs and a yellow mug of coffee.
04

Pancakes

One is a meal. Two is a decision. They land wider than the plate and there is no polite way to eat them.

A folded three egg omelette with hot sauce across it, sliced tomato, a ramekin of sausage gravy and a biscuit.
05

Omelettes, three eggs

Stuffed and folded to order. The Spanish omelette carries onions, peppers and sausage.

Thick slices of french toast under powdered sugar, filling an oval platter.
06

French toast

Cut thick off our own loaf, griddled and dusted. Order the half if you have plans afterward.

Past noon, and before it

It isn’t only breakfast

Burgers, patty melts and sandwiches come off the same griddle, on our own bread, with hash browns beside them.

A burger patty topped with mushrooms in swiss cheese sauce and bacon, with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and hash browns.
Burgers
A patty melt on griddled bread cut in half, served with a wide pile of hash browns.
Patty melt
A cheeseburger with bacon and barbecue sauce, bun to the side, with hash browns and salad.
BBQ bacon
A cinnamon roll wider than the plate it sits on, under cream cheese icing running down the sides.

Before the doors open

We bake it here

The white bread and the wheat bread. The biscuits. The cinnamon rolls, with our Gma’s cream cheese icing on top. It is the reason the french toast is cut that thick, and the reason people who came for eggs leave holding a box.

Cinnamon rolls

Made fresh daily. One is comfortably enough for a table.

Pies

Cream pies with the whipped cream piped on by hand, and a cookies and cream when it’s on.

Bread and biscuits

White or wheat, and biscuits baked in the morning for the gravy.

Apple butter

On the table for your toast, because it belongs there.

Breads are homemade. Great food at reasonable prices. Friendly atmosphere.

Small delish cafe with homestyle service and lovely staff. Like eating at mama's house. Plate size pancakes are delish

Chicken Fried Steak was BadAss and so big that I've gotta take half of it home.

Chris Janda . August 2026

Amazing little joint. If you want grandma's cooking this is your stop!! Had the breakfast and was all made from scratch and could easliey be seen and tasted!! We will definitely be back.

Jordan Charest . August 2026

Food was great but the service was even better! The attention to detail was noticed by me. Every ketchup and hot sauce bottle was wiped clean after each use. Those little details matter. Oh, and make sure to get the cinnamon roll, delicious!

Michelle L . August 2026

While this restaurant had no frills, the food and the service make up for what lacks in atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, great portion sizes, extremely affordable and to top it off every single person there was incredibly friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the customer experience. Will definitely return again!
